As you will see from other areas of this new website, we have made significant progress in returning 50030 Repulse to operational condition, but there is much more work still to be done before we can press the start button. On the electrical side, the following work still needs to be done:-

Overhaul, fit & wire BMR1 board behind circuit breaker panel

 

Obtain & connect resistors on existing board on top of cubicle                    DONE

 

Obtain or cut new second board for above resistors                                   DONE

 

Obtain missing board for CU10

 

Test-fit KV10's & secure cabling

 

Cut & fit airpipes to motor contactors, reverser & field diverts

 

Tighten contact tips on motor contactors & field diverts

 

Make new hinges for cubicle door                                                              DONE

 

Rewire cubicle switch door                                                                        DONE

 

Fit new hinges and cubicle doors into Repulse                                            In process

 

Possibly change air connections on HC1 & 2

 

Check & clean cables from cubicle to exhausters, compressors & blower motors

Check & Clean ETH engine speed valve underneath brake frame


Choose, clean & paint cubicle doors

 

Identify & crimp / replace wiring to load limiting pot

 

Locate wiring from cubicle to speedo drive                                                DONE

 

Identify cable coming from behind brake frame exhauster                          DONE

 

Identify cables marked 701, 801 etc

 

Identify 2 cables marked D or D2 thin man's side

 

Replace severed cables to traction motors, generators & batteries

 

Tighten bolts on motor contactors, earth & neutral terminal bars

 

Test all coils with 110V supply

 

Test reverser, field diverts & motor contactors with air supply

 

Refit & connect all electronic units

 

Obtain & fit DSD equipment in clean air room                                             DONE

 

Re-instate DSD wiring to brake frame & cubicle

 

Bell out all circuits

 

Check lubrication of ERR, WSR, CTR1 & 2 & PC

 

Radiator Compartment

 

Clean CU4 rad temp control unit

 

Clean & mark cables for AVR

 

Locate & check temperature probes

 

Dismantle, clean & refit rad resistors above walkways

 

 

Engine Room

 

Clean & Check engine speed valve in engine room opposite main gen

Investigate & repair wiring to alternator & fuel lift pump in engine compt.

 

Remove alternator & fuel lift pump from Renown, overhaul & fit into Repulse.

 

Cabs

 

Remove, overhaul & re-fit power control pedestals both cabs

 

Remove & overhaul valves underneath Secondman's desk

 

Rewire cab instruments both cabs

 

Remove & clean connections on terminal bars under cab desks in both cabs

 

Check & clean small terminal bars behind cab desks both cabs

 

Replace corroded earthing point behind driver's desk in both cabs

 

Clean control desk lampholders both cabs

 

Reconnect severed cable on multiple working socket drivers' side No.2 cab

 

Fit & wire headlight inverters

 

Replace & rewire missing roof switch panels both cabs

 

Replace missing covers to fault lights                                                                     DONE

 

Obtain, clean & refit Pass/Goods indicator boxes to both cabs                                in process
