Membership & Shares

Compare 50029's condition to 50030 (furthest away from the camera). Welding, glazing and painting have been completed in a year!

The members are not all Class 50 nuts (although some are being treated) and nothing else. A lot of members are with us because they wanted to be involved from group startup to engine startup and have a broad range of railway, and other, interests. We are also not an exclusively male group. The female membership don't make the tea (unless it is their turn on the urn) as the restoration diary shows.

If you would like to be a part of a group that is going places you are looking at the right group. From a standing start in 2002 we have bought two locomotives and moved them 200 miles to Peak Rail. There are regular, well attended, working parties which have already achieved real results with the initial cosmetic clean up. Have a look at the guestbook and you will see plenty of messages of support from across railway preservation.

Don't feel excluded if your bank balance doesn't feel up to share ownership, we are not an exclusive club for those with a bit of cash to spare. Having bought the locomotives there is a need for willing hands. Just because you're not mechanically minded won't prevent us finding a job for you. Similarly, just because you join doesn't mean you have to volunteer your time to the group (although it would be nice to see you). As you can see in the work gallery, we are a friendly bunch and would be delighted to see you. You can join either by using the attached forms and posting them with a cheque or, for immediate membership, by using our online shop.

All members are given a username and password for the secure area of the web site where, amongst other things, you can email the other members and take part in online discussions. If you have a personal email address you will also get an email address at renownrepulse.com which will forward to your personal email address any email received. The email address is in the format firstname.surname@renownrepulse.com which makes communication between members that bit easier as well as for people trying to communicate with the group.

After Louise posted a message, and the subsequent replies, on the group's secure discussion boards we started fishing around for a way to recognise and reward work done on the locomotives at the regular working parties.

As far as we know our scheme is unique. Complete 15 days working on the locomotives (at least five hours per day) and you will automatically gain a share in the locomotives with all the voting rights and other benefits that entails. These shares are equal to paid for shares, they do not have special hybrid status.

To join the working parties you need to be a member of Peak Rail. Apart from helping their coffers the primary reason is you are then covered by their insurance. Membership of Peak Rail can be organised by us and costs £12 for an adult and £18.50 for a family. Hi-viz waist coats with the the group's name on them can be bought through the group for £15.

Whilst a listing on the FTSE 100 is not an immediate aim, shares are our funding life blood. We welcome all amateur philanthropists who would like to buy a part of us. The table below shows that, besides owning a little bit of a Class 50 or two, a share holding gives you quite a few other benefits.

A standing order facility allows us to accept regular donations, it is also quite capable of handling a weekly sum as well. From a minimum of £10 per month to whatever else you can afford on top, your donation will be received gladly.

What's more, the moment your donations reach £100 there will be a new signed single share certificate in the post with your name on it.
