Renown Repulse Restoration diary

A blog of factual reports and personal thoughts on the ongoing restoration of ex-British Rail diesel locomotives 50029 Renown and 50030 Repulse at Peak Rail in Derbyshire, UK.

RRRG website overhaul

The old RRRG website was a cutting edge design... for the late 1990s.  As a result it has been sent to Doncaster Works for a total refurbishment and is expected back in traffic later this year.  Meantime we have set up this site to provide news, views and project updates until such time as the refurbishment work is completed.

Hi Dom & All,

liking the format of the new site - Wordpress is very powerful, and is a package that I have been working on my own website with. Since version 3 was released last year - you can use it for almost anything....

Hopefully soon the new site will be complete - and the active 'hub' the original site was.

Also trying out the new site - from a quickk look so far, it seems a huge improvement on the previous one. Let's hope this comment posts......

I have some hope that I have finally succeeded in getting my profile altered AND SAVING the alterations. I'm posting this comment and check what it looks like. And yes! It is working. I've even managed to get a new shortlink to the new website. Sorry Dom that I've been such a nuisance the past couple of days. You were right, I have to get acquainted to the new site. I'll buy you a couple of pints next time we meet!

Paul, please give this site time. The new site will be built using much the same architecture. You just need to play around a bit and get to know the features, take the Wordpress tutorial and build up your competence with this hosting software. I realise it is a bit more complex than what we had previously but when other groups have sophisticated websites we cannot afford to be left behind. A "Gravatar" is like an individual profile picture by the way. It would be useful if you could use the Site admin option on the right and go to Users/My Profile to update the information with your real name. I have hidden your two other comments as being not very helpful when we are about to open up for public viewing.
