Work party report 26th November 2023

Jay Hirst, Mark Burrows, Richard Dale, Dave Rolfe and I were on site today. Mark was unable to stay beyond noon, so he barred round the power unit two revolutions, and oiled the turbos. Jay carried on guing rubber strips behind where the air filter frames sit opposite the electrical cubicle. Dave was fitting the last of the airpipes he had recovered from Renown to the brake frame. We have about half of what we need, so the rest will have to be made from scratch. Richard and I carried on fault finding with the recalcitrant tail lights at No.1 end. We resolved the Secondman's side, which was two crossed wires on the cab switch panel, but the Driver's side refuses to play ball. To get at the rear of the tail lamp unit, we need to remove all the panelling under the Driver's desk Wes spent so much time getting to fit properly. Fortunately, he had used brass fixings, so removing them shouldn't be an issue. Richard and I also finished checking the two-way light switching between the cabs, and confirmed all the internal bulkhead lights are correctly connected. Jay took the attached pics, which shows the brake frame air pipes and an air tank fitted. Some of the airpipes are white, most are in bare copper. Photos courtesy Jay Hirst.
